Gingerbread Barn & Mini Cookie Contest

Join us at Retreat Farm for a sweet seasonal event—a Gingerbread Barn and Mini Cookie Contest!
This all-ages community celebration to kickoff the Brattleboro Festival of Miniatures features two delicious baking contests: Gingerbread Barns and Mini Cookies, both hosted in the cozy North Barn. Wander through a wonderland of bakery creations and cast your vote for the People’s Choice award.
Warm up at the hot cocoa bar, where you can build your own cocoa masterpiece with mini marshmallows, candy canes, and sprinkles. Get creative and design your own snowflakes.
Round out the day with Vermont craft beer, cider, or wine or stop by the Retreat Farm Market for seasonal gifts and delicious goods to take home.
Sunday, December 6
Contestant Drop-off (11am-12pm)
All contestants must drop off and display their entries between 11 and 12.
All Day Activities (12-4pm)
Explore the baked displays and sip hot cocoa or enjoy a drink at the Thirsty Goat Bar. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite entry to receive the People’s Choice Award before 3pm!
Awards Ceremony (3:00pm)
Four winners will be announced by our judges (top prizes for adult and children’s cookies; and adult and children’s gingerbread house). The entry with most votes — across categories and divisions— will receive the People’s Choice Award.

With two categories (Gingerbread Barn and Mini Cookies) and two divisions (Adult and Under 12), we can’t wait to see what you create. Enter one or both competitions! Open to all ages and skill levels, with just one requirement: THINK SMALL!
Gingerbread Barn
Calling all cookie engineers! Show off your creative culinary side with this very Vermonty twist on the classic gingerbread house. Competitors should submit barn scenes made of gingerbread and other delicious treats to win prizes.
Mini Cookies
Try your teeny tiny baking best, making a set of miniature holiday cookies! All cookie flavors and varieties are welcome, so long as they are also decorated or decorative.
Deadline to enter is Wednesday, December 2nd!
Entry drop-off is between 11am-12pm Sunday, December 6. Entries will be on display to the public on Sunday, December 6 from 12-4:00 pm with winners announced at 3pm.
