Holiday Minibakes Contest

Join us at Retreat Farm for a sweet seasonal event—the Holiday MiniBakes Contest!
This all-ages community celebration features two delicious baking contests: Gingerbread Barns and Mini Cookies, both hosted in the cozy North Barn. Wander through a wonderland of bakery creations and cast your vote for the People’s Choice award.
Warm up at the hot cocoa bar, where you can build your own cocoa masterpiece with mini marshmallows, candy canes, and sprinkles. Get creative and make forest-friendly outdoor ornaments like twig stars or pinecone bird feeders (all supplies provided).
Round out the day with Vermont craft beer, cider, wine, and our festive seasonal drink special. Pair your beverage with one of our charcuterie boxes or stop by the Retreat Farm Market for seasonal gifts and delicious goods to take home.

All Day Activities (11-4pm)
Enjoy the baked displays and meet their creators while sipping hot cocoa or our seasonal drink special. Craft a seasonal ornament for your backyard and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award.
Award Announcements (3:00pm)
Our panel of judges will select one winner from each division (Adult and Under 12) for Best Gingerbread Barn and Best Mini Cookie.
Sunday, December 7
All Day Activities | 11-4pm
Explore the baked displays, sip hot cocoa or our seasonal drink special, make a backyard ornament and vote for your favorite entry to receive the People’s Choice Award before 2pm.
People’s Choice Voting Ends | 2:00pm
Voting ends at 2pm! The entry with most votes — across categories and divisions— will receive the People’s Choice Award.

With two categories (Gingerbread Barn and Mini Cookies) and two divisions(Adult and Under 12), we can’t wait to see what you create. Enter one or both competitions! Open to all ages and skill levels, with just one requirement: THINK SMALL!
Gingerbread Barn
Calling all cookie engineers! Show off your creative culinary side with this very Vermonty twist on the classic gingerbread house. Competitors should submit barn scenes made of gingerbread and other delicious treats to win prizes.
Mini Cookies
Try your teeny tiny baking best, making a set of miniature holiday cookies! All cookie flavors and varieties are welcome, so long as they are also decorated or decorative.
Deadline to enter is Wednesday, December 3.
Entry drop-off is between 1-6pm on Friday, December 5 in Retreat Farm’s North Barn. Entries will be on display to the public on Saturday-Sunday, December 6-7 from 11-4:00 pm. Judging will take place on Saturday, December 6 and prizes will be awarded at 3:00 p.m. Pick-up is Sunday, December 7, between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Remaining entries will be disposed of.
