Community Wood Bank

Thousands of Vermonters struggle with the cost of heating their homes every year. That’s why the Retreat Farm started a Community Wood Bank, joining other organizations around the region in helping our neighbors.

The Community Wood Bank offers an emergency, short-term supply of cord wood for individuals and families in need. It is available to recipients in small quantities of up to 1/3 of a cord, and is intended for those struggling to heat their homes. The Wood Bank is a self-serve resource located behind the Retreat Farm Market on Rte. 30.

At this time, we are out of our stock of wood, but we are working to expand this initiative to help more of our neighbors next winter.

We are grateful for the support from the Robin Foundation, the Thomas Thompson Trust, SEVCA, and donors to Retreat Farm. We also want to thank our volunteers and those who helped friends and family access this resource. With your help, we distributed 12 cords of wood to nearly 40 families in need during the winter of 25-26.

Looking to get involved?

The Wood Bank is accepting wood donations of log length and split wood; email woodbank@retreatfarm.org to learn more.

You can also donate monetarily by clicking here. A $100 donation heats a home for 1-2 weeks.

Stay tuned for future volunteer wood stacking opportunities in the summer and fall of 2026!
